"Pappy", as he is better known to his many friends was born in Spencer, N. C. on June 7, 1907. Most of his life has been spent in and around the vicinity of Norfolk, having moved to Norfolk with his parents when only 3 months of age. His father, E. Eugene Redfearn was secretary of the Norfolk and Western Railway Y. M. C. A. until a short time before his death in 1936.
His education was received in the Larchmont Grade School, Blair Junior and Maury High Schools. He was employed by the Virginia Electric and Power Company on September 20, 1933 as a Bus Operator and has remained in the City Transportation Industry ever since. "Pappy" works the Naval Base Line and has an outstanding safety record with the Virginia Transit Company. He has been very active in union affairs having served as secretary, vice president and president.
He is married to the former Miss Virginia Hope Kain, of Norfolk and has one son, Edward Eugene, who is eighteen years of age and will be a senior in Princess Anne High School this year. The entire family are members of the Lynnhaven Presbyterian Church and attend regularly. "Pappy" is also a member of George W. Wright Lodge No. 346, A. F. and A. M., Royal Arch Chapter No. 68. Tri-City Council and Executive Board of Local Division No. 1177.
"Pappy" resides on his small farm at Lynnhaven, Virginia. He is also half owner in the Automotive Service Center, 4815 Colley Avenue. When not driving a bus or working on union matters you will find him at his station where he enjoys a thriving business selling Shell Oil Products.
