2017 Labor Bills
Bills are introduced in either the House of Delegates or the Senate, and are assigned a number, preceded by HB or SB for House Bill or Senate Bill. Then at the midpoint of the session, or Crossover, bills that survive the first cut are passed from House to Senate or vise versa.

To become a law the bill must survive a vote in both houses. But it's easy to kill a bill in committee, as shown in the list at right.

Passed means the bill becomes a law

Left or Left Pending means It will likely never see an up or down vote.

Tabled means that action has been suspended indefinitely, but can be revived by a majority vote.

Passed by means it will be reconsidered at a later meeting, if the committee takes no further action, the bill is dead.
